Participating University

The project of the first Italian Network of University Museums was presented by the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, coordinating it, with the program agreement signed by the Rectors of 12 Universities throughout the entire Italian territory, soon followed by the Second University of Naples and the Regional Museum of Natural Sciences of Turin. They are all very considerable museums and collections for quantity and quality, and involve all the major disciplines of the cultural heritage, not only the more strictly scientific disciplines such as Anatomy, Botany, Chemistry, Physics, Geology, Mathematics, Mineralogy, Paleontology, Planetary science, but also Arts, Anthropology and Ethnography, Archeology. Together with Modena other two universities of the same region take part in the project, i.e. Ferrara and Parma, then Rome “La Sapienza” with its 20 museums, then Bari, Florence, Siena, La Tuscia, Perugia, Chieti, Cagliari, Lecce, Naples, and Turin.

The project involves 37 museums, 36 collections, and 7 Botanic Garden. It is going to be concluded at the end of September 2016.
