EDUCATIONAL PATHS OF THE NATIONAL UNIVERSITY MUSEUM NETWORK FOR LIFELONG GUIDANCE TO THE SCIENTIFIC METHOD AND CULTURE

The national network of the University Museums has planned to undertake the role of privileged seat for the realization of educational paths for lifelong guidance to the scientific method and culture (following the “National Guidelines for lifelong guidance”, MIUR R.U. prot. No. 4232 of 19/02/2014), with specific attention to the method common to all scientific disciplines, thanks to the heritage and to the competences that are innate to the museums themselves.

The pathways for lifelong guidance to the scientific method and culture associate with those organized by the orientation services of the universities (according to the European Council resolution no. 15030 of 2008 - EDUC 257, SOC 653 stating that “lifelong guidance is an integral part of policies and programs relating to education”). Such educational pathways are purpose-organized for schools and are directed to directors and trainees, to pupils and teachers of the secondary schools.

The main characteristics of such pathways refers to the nature of science itself, which is based on inductive knowledge, hence on experimentation, exalting the role of laboratory. Laboratory museums are the new generation of scientific museums, undertaking the function of support to a didactics more and more willing to join words and observation and direct experience, and hence playing the role of guidance for the young.
